Peelamedu Sri Ashtamsa Varadha Anjaneyar Temple – The Ever Changing Grace of Hanuman

Sri Ashtamsa Varadha Anjaneyar Temple, located in Peelamedu, Coimbatore, is a sacred abode dedicated to Lord Hanuman. The idol here is uniquely carved from Salagrama stone, radiating divine energy. A special feature of this temple is that Goddess Lakshmi blesses devotees from the right palm of Hanuman, whose tail is turned towards the north—the direction of Kubera, the God of Wealth.

The main deity faces west, blessing devotees with his Abhaya Mudra (gesture of protection) in one hand and holding a mighty mace in the other. On the Tamil New Year, an extraordinary offering of 10,008 fruits is made to the Lord. Saturdays are especially auspicious, with regular Raja Maruthi Alankaram, Vennai Alankaram and Vadamalai Seva. During the Tamil month of Purattasi, devotees witness special offerings such as Vadai Malai, Swaya Roopam, Chenduram, Swarnamayam and Muthangi Sevai.

What makes this temple truly unique is that Lord Hanuman is adorned in a different alankaram (decoration) every single day. Each visit offers a new divine darshan, making the temple a spiritual treasure for devotees. While every day is special because of the unique alankaram, devotees particularly flock to the temple on Saturdays. A temple where Lord Hanuman greets you in a new divine form every day.
